Device/Platform Targeting vs. Device Ownership Targeting

The first targeting selection in the platform lets you specify whether you would like to target consumers’ phones, tablets, computers, connected TVs – or any combination of those devices. In this section you’re selecting the devices where your ads will be served.

The device ownership targeting technique is an advanced feature that allows you to serve impressions based on the devices that Drawbridge has associated to an consumer. For example, if you were running a campaign to sell iPhone accessories, you could still reach people with ads on their tablets, computers, and even Android devices, but by selecting iPhone ownership as a targetable attribute, you ensure that you’re reaching an audience who owns an iPhone, even if that’s not the device where they’re seeing the ad. This can also work for negative targeting, so if you were running a campaign for a smartTV, for example, you may not want to reach people who already own a connected TV.
